 Vocational and Alternative Programs
 
Oak Hill is a residential center for committed and detained youth, ages 12 to 22. This program is for students who cannot function successfully in mainstream education (suspended, truant, behaviorally disruptive and/or court-involved).
 
Phelps Career High School aims to prepare its students for a career in industry by specializing in automotive technology, barbering and cosmetology, carpentry and electrical technology, computer assisted drafting (CAD) design, electronics, floriculture, and shoe and leather repair. 
 
Roosevelt STAY is an evening school for residents of the District ages 15 years or older.  The program offers high school diploma classes, English as a Second Language classes, career development, and computer classes.  For more information, contact (202) 576-8991.
 
Spingarn STAY, a program within Spingarn High School, is designed for students 16 to 21 who are returning to school. Spingarn STAY offers classes between 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm. In addition to regular coursework, the program offers vocational classes in childcare and computer hardware. Call (202) 724-4538 for more information.
